It’s Feb, but it says Summer on my Calendar!!!
February 20, 2010
It’s my second Saturday of staying in at home. Normally, i look forward to long drunken weekend nights with friends. But now, I think I am getting bored once again. Being a city dweller, I, every now and then, yearn for liberation from repetitive intolerance… I need to get out once in a while. I need a break from pavements to keep my head sane. And having said that, here I am checking all the wonders of the world trip advisor can offer. Summer in the Philippines has practically started and in my head, are pictures of pristine beaches, clean air and the mighty sun shining through.
Let me share with you some beautiful travel offers that includes you having to bring flip flops and maybe some sun screen, as you please. ( I haven’t been to these places yet. But these destinations are definitely on my dream list.)
1. Amanpulo, Palawan
http://www.amanresorts.com/amanpulo/home.aspx
Amanpulo is known to be one of the most expensive and exclusive resorts in the Philippines. It is privately situated on its own island of Pamalican, in the Cuyo Islands, very close to Palawan. I wouldn’t be surprised if one turon would cost me Php 350 (Just an example). But then again, look at the fine white sand, almost blinding to the eyes. The water (according to friends and photos) is crystal clear, I may not feel the need to snorkel.
2. Mykonos, Greece
If only I did not spend too much on traveling last 2009, I would say this season would be the best time to travel to Greece. The country is bankrupt and it needs all the help it can get, tourism being one. My business partner told me that for him, Mykonos is one of the craziest Euro trips he had. It has this cosmopolitan feel, where partying is highly intense. That I want to see!
3. Bali, Indonesia
Bali is a surfing destination in Indonesia… Or in another part, a romantic getaway for couples. I think I would enjoy this tropic island rich in culture. Maybe even learn and get inspired by Balinese Hinduism… I just hope the island does not smell like Durian.
4. Batanes
http://www.paraisophilippines.com/category/philippine-provinces/batanes/
Batanes is on the top most part of the Philippines, as it appears floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea. Typhoons are very common in this island, if not, the small province stands silent and still as if waiting. I was told that Batanes carries a very different charm as if it exists in a different era. Stone houses and bicycles create a picturesque view and the sound of silence may be deafening… to which I think i would need to experience at least once in my life.
5. Jamaica
I want to see Jamaica. I don’t know exactly why but i just want to see and feel their way of life… oh and visit Bob Marley’s home & mausoleum… yeah… That.
So, don’t you also want to just leave the city right about now???
Love… er, Purification is in the air…
February 7, 2010
Last night, I attended a wedding reception of my high school friend.
In a small table, together with some of my close high school friends, were empty bottles of whiskey and vodka hence the bantering and reminiscing of the good old high school days. Certain songs played by the DJ reminded us of our crazy memories in places that are merely substantial to those who grew up in the 90’s. We came to realize how fast time flew. At this age or point of my time, weddings and christenings seem to be of customary and yet inside my head, I always wonder how surreal it is to be jumping from a life we all once led as kids to a life with legally bonded relationships, responsibilities, and more.
I have always believed that relationships, be it in love, friendship or career, is something that you constantly work on. You have to exert a good amount of energy to keep a harmonious relationship. And that is not an easy task, if not taxing. Imagine having several roles in a daily basis, and most importantly, being the best in each role you portray. That is something you have to be prepared for. Having said that, domestic pleasure is something that I am still learning.
They say February was derived from the the Latin term februum which means purification. So instead of filling the air with love and cheesiness this Valentine’s, I will be in the learning process of removing undesired habits and optimizing it, as how my boyfriend would put it.
I am happy for my friends who are now with hyphenated last names or who have given birth to beautiful little ones. Their time has come for them to move on to greater things in store for their families. As for the rest, have a great February 14 ❤
