Put your guard up

 

There is always a lot more to the story…

There’s always a good reason why there are people that have their guard up. A broken heart, a trauma, an unforgettable experience… whatever it is, they might have thought that they are over a certain situation but in reality, it’s deeply embedded in them and it slowly secretes in present experiences hindering them from seeing a different perspective. I am not saying it is wrong. It probably comes out naturally, with the human brain keeping its very own version of memory of pain, anger or sadness. Well, my point is, one will never understand why a person acts a certain way if one does not fully understand where that person is coming from. Like an iceberg, you may know a person, but you may not fully know who that person really is. It takes time, energy and effort to understand someone and through that, that person may realize that there is more to life than having one’s guard up. Like there’s an actual realization, an a-ha moment. On the other hand, there will still be people that will keep their guard up no matter. Maybe because of fear, maybe because of pride… or maybe, then again, because of choice. As I always say, it’s a  matter of choice.

I know it is not easy to just take your guard down and believe that nothing wrong will ever happen again. But you know, sometimes it’s actually not about that.. it’s more so a question if it is worth it to tear down that wall for someone or something. There’s a saying that goes “Sometimes people put up walls, not to keep others out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.” There will be that right moment when a person will know that it is time to let their guard down.
