Phuket | Phi Phi | Phang Nga
September 27, 2014
Living in the Philippines means having easy access to paradise beaches, white powder sand and the clear blue ocean. Hence visiting the beaches in other south east Asian countries is, in my part, not really aberrant, but more so unpopular. That is why when my boyfriend and I have decided to explore the islands of Thailand, I was pretty much excited. I felt like I was Leonardo DiCaprio in The Beach movie, with the song Voices playing in my head.
We stayed in Phuket Island at Karon beach, an area not that far away from Patong’s madness but far enough for it to be calm and pleasant.
On our second day, we visited Koh Phi Phi – an island on the Andaman Sea in the southernmost part of Thailand. I’d say it is a great place for the younger crowd and for scuba diving enthusiasts. Koh Phi Phi has a vibrant and upbeat feel with a charm that is very much different from Phuket. It actually has been almost 10 years after the Tsunami hit this island.
We also visited Phang Nga bay, Panak Island and Hong Island. We explored the sea cave lagoons on canoes and dropped by the James Bond Island for a quick touristy photo shoot.
It was a good 5 days of adventure. Still a lot to see (we didn’t get to visit Koh Pha Ngan & Krabi Island) so I would definitely visit again in the future. Personally, the white sand in the Philippines is still better, though Thailand sand is probably not that far behind.
